PMAG Mission Statement
In May 2003, the Perchlorate Medical Advisory Group (PMAG) was convened by Santa Clara County Health Officer, Dr. Martin Fenstersheib, to address issues of human health & perchlorate contamination in the county. For information, please contact Janie Burkhart.
Current members include concerned individuals in the community, local physicians and representatives from the following groups and agencies: the Santa Clara County Medical Association, Environmental Health Committee; the Perchlorate Community Advisory Group; the Department of Health Services, Environmental Health Investigations Branch; the Santa Clara County Water District; the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry; the Santa Clara County Public Health Department; the San Martin Planning Advisory Committee; the San Martin Neighborhood Alliance; and local media outlets.
The goal of PMAG is to convene members of the affected community, public health, and appropriate technical experts in order to assess community needs relative to human health and perchlorate. To identify actions necessary for the protection of the community's health and to make appropriate recommendations to State and National authorities regarding short and long term needs.
Due to County budget and personnel cut backs, PMAG will not have regular monthly meetings. Please keep an eye on the SMNA Website calendar for updated information.
Notes from the meetings may be found at the Public Health Website sccphd.org under “Quicklinks” Perchlorate. Meeting notes and other perchlorate information may also be checked out at the following locations:
